Functional films

Silica is also widely used because it provides a wide range of properties to functional films.
These properties include anti-blocking, fire retardancy, added strength, and rust resistance, as well as some properties that have not been possible to obtain with resins alone.

As an anti-blocking agent

Spherical silica does not damage films even when wound, thus has a firm reputation as a high-performance anti-blocking agent.
It is also highly transparent and so is optimal as an inorganic filler for films.

Provides barrier properties

The sheet-shaped silica SUNLOVELY has a high aspect ratio and causes dehydration condensation when dried, so the sheets bond strongly to each other to provide barrier properties.
This effect can be expected to increase the higher the drying temperature.
